I've been facing an issue where my PC doesn't respond when a specific drive is connected through a SATA cable. This problem started after I returned home and tried to boot up. When I attempt to start, the screen lights up and displays a small line (similar to a terminal cursor), but nothing happens. Pressing Del doesn't get me into BIOS or anything else. Initially, I suspected a motherboard fault, replaced it, but it didn't fix the issue. Then I checked the CPU, same problem occurred. Recently, as I unplugged devices and connected my SSD (the boot drive), the PC started working and loaded the UEFI/Bios menu. I'm currently installing Windows on another drive, but I want to understand what might be causing this behavior.

Specs:
- Old CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
- New CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G
- Old motherboard: MSI A520m A-Pro
- New motherboard: MSI A520m MAG Vector Wi-Fi 2x8 GB
- GPU: MSI GTX 1070 SSD
- SSD (non-working): Crucial BX 240GB

You might want to test the drive on a different machine, though it seems to have failed.

I also have some ideas. I'll have a chance to review it later. The question is, how does this stop the bios from loading?

Black display with an underscore line indicates the absence of an operating system on the primary boot device.

It confirms the BIOS loads but freezes when trying to access a damaged hard drive.

Absolutely. I've noticed flash drives leading to this issue for a few people as well.
