I received an Acer Nitro 5 2500u and have been using it for some time, mainly for basic browsing. Recently, a restart prompt appeared to install a Windows update, which unfortunately ended up damaging my laptop. Out of interest, I investigated and discovered issues on the motherboard. Since I have limited hardware experience, I’m unsure if the damage can be repaired or not.

Could you clarify what led you to believe the update was responsible for the issue?

I mentioned I’m not very familiar with this topic... but in short, my laptop stopped working right in the middle of a Windows update on the boot screen. I’ve been using it every day for five years without any issues. I assumed the update might have caused it just because of that.

Interesting? That’s a strong term. I was just noting my view as someone who uses tech tools. I’m here for answers or explanations from real experts.

Consider sending it to Acer and trusting the outcome. If Windows Update handled this, my worries would be greater now.

PC died while receiving Windows Update.
"Windows Update killed my laptop" suggests a cause-and-effect relationship that cannot be verified and is likely incorrect.
