Hello, your PC automatically installed a Windows 11 update today, which caused its performance to drop significantly. The Task Manager displayed the boot SSD (Crucial P5 1TB) running at full capacity. After rebooting, I noticed the BIOS no longer recognized the drive in the motherboard slot. I attempted to use a different SSD in the same slot, and it was detected. Still, inserting the Crucial P5 again didn’t work. Could you believe the drive is completely unusable? System info: Motherboard model ASRock H510M-ITX, SSD type Crucial P5 1TB 3D NAND NVMe - CT1000P5SSD8.

Search for detailed instructions on fixing an SSD not detected in BIOS. Consider adjusting secure boot, enabling Compatibility mode, modifying boot order, and updating the motherboard firmware. I’ve only used Windows 11 briefly before switching back to Windows 10, so I’m uncertain about the current status. It seems the OS might be corrupted; updating your motherboard’s BIOS could help.

It seems unusual to witness this, but follow the standard procedures. Reset the BIOS and consider using a different NVMe slot if available.

I updated the firmware to the newest release, verified secure boot and compatibility settings. The device features an additional PCIe Gen 4 slot, yet I lack a 11th generation Intel chip to use it. This is puzzling since another SSD functions in the same port—my belief was the storage component failed unexpectedly. The unit is only two years old and far from its expected lifespan.

You're confirming the correct motherboard for the AsRock H510M-ITX/ac. It appears only one M.2 slot exists, with the second dedicated to the Wi-Fi module. Regarding the drive problem, it seems more likely a coincidence that it failed after the update—given it was just installed and seemed functional beforehand. The update might have affected the drive's firmware or caused the controller to behave erratically after the first reboot, leading it to shut down abruptly. If the drive is still under warranty, simply return it for replacement.

I noted the incorrect motherboard you mentioned—it's the H570 with two slots. I plan to contact them tomorrow regarding the RMA, since their return page isn't available. It's strange how it failed so abruptly. No signs of problems appeared before the Windows update. Appreciate all your assistance!
