The Windows update affected your Ethernet connection.
It seems like a rare occurrence, but the last time I updated Windows it caused Ethernet to block internet access. It indicates I’m online but can’t connect to anything. I have two Ethernet ports—one linked to my server for network storage—and I tried swapping them. The issue persists despite adjusting priorities, and Wi-Fi still functions. I’m planning to look for new drivers to try and resolve it, though it’s frustrating. Windows updates often cause problems for me.
The 1809 patch affected Intel's Advanced Drivers for me. My X520 supports 10Gbps but used a 1Gbps link for backup. After updating Windows, my NIC Teaming and most of Intel's advanced drivers vanished. I tried reinstalling them, but a new driver was just released recently and I haven't regained the features.
What motherboard are you using? I've been running 1809 on all my systems since January, and everything has worked perfectly so far. Based on what I remember, I'm using an Asus Rampage VI Extreme, Asus Maximus X Code, Asus Strix Z270i-gaming, or Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3P, all equipped with Intel 1 gig NICs. The R6E model also has a 10G NIC, but I haven't used it because my switches only support 1Gbps.
