VMD was activated, likely because ASUS includes it by default (though I’m not sure exactly what it does). It fixed the issue, really helpful!

It seems the issue occurred because during the setup process, the touchpad, Wi-Fi adapters, and other components were disabled.

Seems like you were working on installing Linux on an older Intel MBP. You had to connect an external KB/M and a USB Ethernet adapter until everything was ready.
