Since the update to 1709, my Steam client often stops working and I have to end it using Task Manager. I haven’t found anyone else experiencing the same problem, and I’ve tried reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, changing the motherboard, and applying a BIOS update without success. I can’t go back to the 1703 version because I’m past the 10-day period, so I’d have to reinstall Windows completely. I’m curious if others are facing similar issues or if there’s anything I can do to troubleshoot further.

I attempted to restore Windows by reinstalling it, but became hesitant about the whole process because I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it.

I played games on Steam recently and it stopped working properly—like closing the app without any issues. The problem seems to be with the same version you're using. Have you attempted a fresh installation of Steam?

Yes, I understand. I've already reinstalled Windows 1709 once. To return to version 1703, I'll have to reinstall it again, which I'd rather avoid if possible—I'm assuming it's the only option right now, so I'll give it a try.

imo reinstalling isn't a big deal, it's rebuilding everything afterwards but, since you've already wiped once you wouldn't really lose anything by trying.

I just reinstalled 1709 once more—it’s the same issue. Probably best to wait since I can’t locate a MediaCreationTool for 1703.

I discovered a solution. It’s a glitch where the Steam window appears hidden by an invisible barrier, preventing interaction. For a quick workaround, press the Show Desktop button twice in the lower-right corner of your taskbar whenever it freezes.
