The Windows 11 desktop will turn on right away when it powers down.
Hello, I am having an issue with my desktop PC where if I manually put it to sleep or let the sleep timer put it to sleep it will go to sleep for about .5 seconds then immediately wake back up. Things to note. 1) This did not happen with the same hardware config on windows 10. 2) This is a clean install of windows 11, not an upgrade 3) The computer will sleep properly for the first few hours after a full shut down and boot up Troubleshooting steps taken. 1) I have unplugged All USB and display cables from the computer leaving only power and the same issue continues 2) Fast boot has been both disabled and re-enabled to no affect/effect 3) Windows event viewer shows no errors simply a good sleep and a good wake .5 seconds later for no reason 4) I have run these commands to check for other wake reasons with these responses: powercfg /requests DISPLAY: None. SYSTEM: None. AWAYMODE: None. EXECUTION: None. PERFBOOST: None. ACTIVELOCKSCREEN: None. powercfg /waketimers There are no active wake timers in the system. powercfg /lastwake Wake History Count - 1 Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 0 The best I can tell is that windows is deciding to wake itself up and keeps no reported reason. Can anyone help me. Its been driving me crazy to either leave my computer on and awake or shut it down for the last few months
It seems there might be an unusual driver issue affecting device sleep functionality. Your initial actions were effective, but now further investigation is needed, likely involving driver adjustments.
I observed a monitor performing similar actions and noticed a GPU achieving overclocking. Did you confirm that your monitor is running the most recent firmware and drivers?
This appears to be a tool that disrupts your sleep cycle, likely tied to a particular software service. Are you certain the installation is fully complete—meaning Windows is set up and updated without any issues? If yes, then it might be one of the programs affecting your sleep: uninstall one by one, test again, reinstall if needed. After each step, check if the sleep function works properly. By following this process, you should identify which software is causing the problem and resolve it.
Installation isn't completely clean since I've been using it for a few months. Everything looks the same as on Windows 10, except for some Steam games. The monitors are unchanged, but the GPU drivers were updated twice yet the problem persists. Certain work software blocks me from reinstalling again, so I'll try removing most of it to check if it improves things. I'll also update the monitor drivers and follow up later.
It's been just over 18 hours since the event, but Wake on LAN didn't resolve it. I looked at my BIOS and saw ErP was enabled, which seems to have fixed the problem so far. I'm not sure why Windows 10 didn't wake up while Windows 11 did, but thankful for the guidance.
