It seems the Windows 10 preview isn't actually a Win 10 beta. If you know how to upgrade to the latest stable version without a clean install, please let me know.

You must run the technical preview to access the latest updates before they become available for general use. A fresh installation is required to obtain the official Windows 10 version.

About a week or two prior to release, Microsoft halted further upgrades for your build. You’ll need to reinstall, at least according to what I understand. The latest version available is 10240.

No clear option exists to download Win 10 while preserving your data, as most updates require reinstallation.

You could explore some of the force update commands commonly used in elevated command prompts. Apologies if I can't recall them immediately—searching online should help locate them.

It seems uncertain. You might be able to improve things by retaining your data, though your Windows could still not function properly afterward.

Are you still part of the insider group? The system should reflect this, though it was before the widespread release of Windows 10.

I retrieved the update tool from their site, though it warns it doesn’t work with Windows 10 preview. I’m still trying it out.

The download proceeded without issues using the provided installer. All data remained intact and the system was fully activated.
