The ViewSonic screen shows odd flickering patterns.
Problem description: Screen shows RGB static more often at higher refresh rates. At 60fps it's okay but flickers to black at higher Hz. No issue with HDMI or DP cables, OS version is 22623.891/64bit CPU, 3600X GPU, B550 tomahawk motherboard, Powersupply 750W RM750 ATX, and monitor VX2758-2KP-MHD driver. GPU drivers are 31.0.15.1694.
The problem continues without any cables connected to the monitor.
If it's a fresh monitor, replace it since there may be an issue in the power circuit leading to feedback. Another device such as a motor, fan, dishwasher, or hairdryer could also be responsible for the loop. Try connecting it to a different outlet—it should behave similarly but will take only a few minutes. What you're seeing is often called a ground loop. Edited November 25, 2022 by Thomas4
I've tested various ports, including those outside your room. Could it be a faulty monitor or something else that needs attention?
It's unfortunate, but it seems it might be time to upgrade. Although fixing it could be possible, replacing it usually makes more sense financially. I almost missed another option—try degaussing the screen with a powerful magnet. This technique was used for older CRT displays and might work, even if it’s unlikely. Still, since you’ve reached this point, it’s worth a shot.
Is the monitor limited to 60Hz? For a gaming setup, aim for at least 100-144Hz. A 60Hz limit can restrict performance in modern games because of many players and NPCs running simultaneously in various zones. You also need to align the frame rate with the vertical refresh rate.
