I own four USB ports on the front of my case (Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL) but they’ve all stopped working at different times. Two are linked directly to the motherboard using its USB 3.0 cable, while the other two connect through a PCIe adapter card. The two at the top with the front I/O failed first, which is connected straight to the M/B. For a long time I relied on an Xbox controller plugged in continuously; sometimes a flash drive would appear or pop up. Recently, my controller stopped connecting altogether. Last night the lower two also failed, but this happened while the computer was still running rather than just during startup, unlike the earlier ones. My Logitech G29 was connected to one of them and it randomly performed its resync at boot but then cut off mid-process, leaving all ports dead. My Type-C port remains functional, though the PCIe card is gone—since the rear I/O USB ports are also non-responsive. I suspect a static electricity issue due to my chair and carpet; monitors briefly shut down whenever I shift position or if I don’t move quickly enough. I always step back a few feet from my desk before standing, which helps, but it still happens. Despite being powered by a UPS, I haven’t received any alerts. My main thought is that my apartment’s wiring might not meet safety standards, even though it has a three-prong outlet.

1.. reach out to support for your USB connections, 2.. use an antistatic mat beneath your desk. if you're using carpet, opt for a firm one; if your chair has wheels, choose a wheeled version.

I've been using this setup for a few years now, and Lian Li seems unlikely to make any changes. The mat options are either soft rubber with an ESD strap or just the large plastic ones that don’t hold shape. Nothing really works well on carpet.

they should still be able to find replacement components for this kind of flooring. You mentioned a similar product on Amazon, like the Computex Anti-Static Advantage mat. I understand your concern about carpets near your computer—previously you swapped it out for laminate or something similar.

It seems there might be an issue with the setup you're using. I understand it's not what you expected, especially regarding the monitor connection.

Sounds good to me. I'll give it a shot. I have the large size (5'x4'), so I hope it works well.

Front panel USB connections use a cable linked to the motherboard. Rear USB ports are attached directly to the board. Unplug the case and trace the cable from the front panel to the motherboard. Reconnect it, clearing any dust and cleaning the pins where the USB plug fits. If this doesn’t work, consider buying a PCIe USB 3.1 card for additional ports.

I understand you're familiar with assembling the system. Also, I recall there was a PCIe USB card inside that failed too.
