The USB extension cable and hub aren't functioning properly together.
Hey! I bought a 50-foot USB 2.0 extension cable and used it with a USB 3.0 hub to keep my gaming setup stable. The hub works well on its own and the cable does too, but once it connects to the hub it stops functioning properly. The hub appears in Device Manager now. I have the product links for both the cable and the hub. I’m unsure if the length or format is causing the issue, but I need a fix so I can keep playing without constantly moving my heavy computer. Would you recommend any upgrades or troubleshooting steps I should try first? Thanks for understanding, and I appreciate the refund option.
This configuration is quite unique. Based on your home network, you might also consider using parsec on a laptop and linking it to your TV. This avoids the need for a lengthy USB cable. However, there could be an issue with your current arrangement—your HUB might not receive sufficient power through USB. USB 2 has limited power capabilities, and the cable you're using is already drawing some of that. They note: if possible, try a hub powered separately, though I can't confirm it will succeed.
Ok, USB 2.0 isnt supposed to be longer than 15 feet without a active powered extension, went thru this very thing many years ago with a wifi dongle. Next problem is you got a usb 3.0 hub, that can only use 2.0 speeds. Best plan would be 15 foot usb from pc, add active/powered usb hub and then add another 15 foot usb cable. At the end of the 15 foot span you have to have a powered hub to spank the signal with enough power the rest of the way, theres no getting around it.
You'll need an active cable for a 50-foot USB connection. Otherwise, install a booster every 15 feet. A suitable option is available here: https://www.startech.com/en-eu/cables/usb2hab50ac

You're looking for a USB 2 device. This option might be a bit less obvious but could work well https://www.amazon.ca/StarTech-com-ST420...62&sr=8-11
