I received the Fifine AM8 and the problem is that it's too quiet.
I went through all the normal checks and adjustments—uninstalling the driver, changing the port—and nothing resolved the issue. Now I realized it doesn't respond to the 'levels' bar in sound settings. Under recording > properties > levels, the range goes from 0 to 100, but the input stays unchanged.
Mute works fine. When I mute it next to the levels, it matches the physical mute on the microphone (it shows red light).

Is there any impact when rotating the knob on the microphone? It might be that the knob is damaged.

The knob is gain, not volume. Yeah the gain knob works, as far as adjusting gain but it doesn't help with 'quietness' (although I was already recording at 100% gain).
There's another knob for output, for when headphones are attached. I tried meddling with that too, just in case, but nothing.
It does feel as if there's a broken volume knob, because mic is completely irrespective of Windows 'microphone level' volume scale, but alas...

I have it like this and the mic still works.
