The USB drive appears as two distinct devices on your PC, and the displayed size is lower than expected (shows 2.8 GB instead of 8 GB). After formatting, the issue continues.

Review the partition layout in Disk Management. Any unusual changes suggest a possible issue with the drive. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...management If the situation arose unexpectedly, the drive might be faulty. In that scenario, avoid using it and consider replacing it.

Uncertain about the meaning but didn’t interact with it—it’s meant for my friend.

It also mentions the presence of 4GB of unused space.

You need to free up space on your flash drive by removing unused partitions. This action will delete all data from the affected drive. To start, right-click the G: partition and choose "Delete Volume..." from the menu. Confirm with OK. After this, you’ll see 7.46GB of unallocated space available. Click inside that area and select "New simple volume..." Follow the wizard prompts, choosing defaults works well. When done, your drive will be fully formatted and ready for use.

The USB isn't necessarily dead; it might just be showing two unallocated partitions because the first partition wasn't fully deleted.

That roughly 700 kilobytes section is right in the middle. The DiskPart tool simplifies clearing partitions on a disk, but use it wisely—mistakes can delete the wrong partitions and DiskPart won’t help if you choose incorrectly!
