I moved my computer to another room and tried using a USB dock/hub for peripherals. I needed it to connect my mouse, keyboard, headset, and foot pedal without running cables through walls. The problem was that both hubs I used didn’t support passing the keyboard or mouse through them—only the keyboard and mouse worked. I suspected a driver issue, but it functioned fine on a laptop without drivers. The dock connects via USB 3.2 with a 25-foot extension to a USB 3.0 port on the dock. On my desktop, it works directly via USB-C, and both docks are functional. Any suggestions or clues for this setup? Also, what would be a suitable replacement? Thank you.
If it functions before the extension but not afterward, your cord is likely inexpensive or of poor quality. The wiring inside the extension might have too high resistance for the USB protocol's low power requirements. Each conductor's resistance rises with length. Usually, you need stronger signal and power boosters when the cord gets longer.
