The USB devices are not functioning, the screen remains frozen, and the power button fails to shut down the PC.
Just wanted to share this so others might recognize a similar situation. Occasionally I leave my PC running overnight, and when I return, I notice all USB devices are inactive—no lights, no response—and the screen remains stuck. I repeatedly try connecting the devices and using the power button to shut it down, but nothing works. I can resolve it by turning off the PSU and restarting it, which then boots normally. There are no unusual events logged in the event logs during those nights. Any suggestions?
Launch Windows Control Panel, then Device Manager, and select Universal Serial Bus controllers. Identify every USB Root Hub entry and examine them one by one. Navigate to the Power Management section and deselect the checkbox next to 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.
