APC provides a software named PowerChute that connects to your UPS and your PC through an ups link.
It offers details on past events, present usage, temporary disruptions, and a testing feature.
It can initiate a smooth shutdown when power is lost and the battery is almost depleted.
I found it extremely helpful.

This particular UPS model lacks any monitoring port (USB or RS232), which means the power chute won't be effective.

Sure, I thought that too. It would help if it backed that up.

I experienced a comparable problem with my UPS. It would stop functioning during an actual blackout, but when I manually cut off the mains power, it operated perfectly. It would supply my PC with electricity for about 15 minutes before cutting off. My PC consumes around 400W, and it's connected to a 650W PSU. The UPS was designed for 650W capacity.

I'm uncertain if I misunderstood something, but it seems there might have been unexpected power spikes during a real blackout that exceeded the UPS's rating for a brief moment, causing it to trip. I changed to a 1000W PSU (same brand) and the issue resolved.

I'm sure I misused some technical terms... In my experience, when dealing with electricity, I rely on basic advice like "don't touch, touch hurts, ooga booga," which was my approach.
