She should be able to upgrade without breaking the dual boot setup. The 2015 guide still applies, though it’s a bit outdated. Since her main use is Ubuntu but she occasionally needs Windows, the process remains viable.

It's usually best to start with Windows 10 and then add the Ubuntu installation during setup.

Ubuntu should reside on its own partition, unaffected by the upgrade. Whether GRUB is affected isn't clear—this could influence your choice of operating system after switching Windows 10. Where exactly is GRUB installed?

It resides on one solid hard drive inside her laptop. I'll keep you updated if everything functions correctly or if issues arise.
