The upgrade from i5 to i7 should be relatively straightforward.

Hi....I'm not a complete numpty but that said, not so far away! I have an old Thinkcentre mini pc, M93P Dual Core i5 @2.9GHz. AI tells me I can replace it with a Quad Core i7 4770 3.4GHz since they both use the same 1150 socket. Can I be sure that AI is truly the source of all intelligence? If so, should I just swap it out easily or will I need to adjust other settings I don't understand well? Thanks/Gill
The 4765t is officially supported, possibly due to its cooling performance, and the 4770 should also function well (with similar low TDP).
HOWEVER
the BIOS may be restricted to certain CPUs, and changing to another could cause issues.
You might want to check their BIOS updates for any announcements about CPU changes.
SFF M93p is confirmed. The Mini PC should use T class chips, 35W.
M85 offers restricted cooling options.
Below are the details:

Consider purchasing a T suffix processor that is compatible.
The BIOS might restrict you to one of these models.
The T suffix represents a low-power variant of the main chip.
CPU-Z will indicate the processor currently installed.
Thank you for your quick responses. I was able to open the CPU-Z app and confirmed the current CPU is an i5 4570T at 2.9GHz. Based on the specifications shared, does this mean an i7-4765T would be my best or only choice? And will I still need to consider that sometimes the BIOS restricts certain CPUs, making a change difficult? Also, could you check their BIOS updates for any information about CPU changes?
Yes, it meets both requirements.
The i7-4765T and possible BIOS restrictions.
4785T goes for about $30 on ebay.
What you mostly get is 4 more processing threads.
But, no boost in single thread performance.
I have made similar changes on the lenovo M83 mini's to good effect.
