You're facing a common challenge when dual-booting. It sounds like the installation process isn't recognizing Windows properly. Since you've already booted into the Ubuntu installer and installed a new SSD, double-check these steps: ensure your USB drive is correctly formatted and labeled, verify that the partition you created for Linux is properly mounted, and confirm Fast Startup is disabled in BIOS/UEFI. Also, try booting from the USB without any additional drivers or services running. If the issue persists, consider checking the Windows installation media for errors or reinstalling it.

It doesn't require identifying Windows. You can simply set up a partition for Ubuntu on your drive inside Windows and install Ubuntu there.

I'm currently at work, so i will post screenshots later. I don't want to install it on the same drive as Windows, I want to install it on a partition of the SSD i just installed if possible. That partition is formatted in NTFS. If it helps here is my HD configuration. 250 GB SSD - C Drive - Windows Boot 2TB Mechanical - D Drive - Steam Library 500 GB SSD - Partitioned into two volumes, E & F. E is where i would like to install linux if possible.

It's about ensuring the right system is used. Just point it to the appropriate storage and follow the standard setup process.

You’d still have to adjust the boot sequence. To have Windows appear in GRUB, set it up once more after the system is installed.
