The two computers connect to the same Wi-Fi but show significantly different connection speeds.
Hi, I was replacing my Ethernet cables in the gaming room today. I wanted to check them out before using them through walls. I noticed that both my old and new cables gave my brother's PC around 530mbps, while my own PC only managed about 250mbps (sometimes even less). The two PCs are right next to each other, so I’m unsure what might be causing the speed difference. My PC was built in 2016, so I expected it to keep up with my brother’s newer system. I’ve attached the motherboard image below, but I’m not sure what could be wrong since I can’t find any new drivers online. I’ve tried testing speeds on both computers together and separately, and the results are consistent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I start to worry about the motherboard possibly having a problem, especially with my USB C port and Samsung T7 SSD. Thanks in advance!
Both devices are reporting 1.0Gbps speeds, but the network type differs—your connection appears private while your brother's is public. This could affect access and security.
I wasn't sure if the issue was related to his motherboard, but it seems unlikely because your PC maintains the same speed whether he's on or off. Let me know if you need further clarification!
I haven’t tried any of those tools, yet I’m not sure if he uses them.
