I just completed my first build and I’m eager to understand the reality behind Windows CD keys. Some creators recommend them, but online discussions mention concerns about piracy and reliability. Others report using them regularly without issues. Can anyone clarify this? I’m considering purchasing a key from https://ca.vip-scdkey.com as part of my setup. They’re probably genuine keys obtained through proper channels. The retailer likely bought them legally, so there’s no need to worry about fraud. Occasionally, some stores might have used stolen card information, but that’s not the main issue—it’s more about hidden practices behind the scenes.

They often appear cheaper on Reddit, but there are several drawbacks. Many platforms have high piracy rates and take money from developers. Creators usually claim trust because they’re compensated.

This applies only to platforms acting as marketplaces, allowing anyone to sell product keys without restrictions, and it's likely the keys were initially bought with stolen card information.

For those curious, I obtained my key from the provided link and it’s functioning well so far. I didn’t realize I had installed regular Windows instead of Windows 10 Pro, so I reached out to their customer support chat— the representative replied in just ten seconds and provided me with an upgrade key for Windows 10 Pro. Both keys were valid, and the person was very helpful. Updated on September 8, 2022 by LogicalDrm

I've adjusted the links to be more general. Since grey market keys are informal and come from individuals rather than large retailers, we can't link directly to ads. You may redirect to the main platform page. The problem with these keys is that only the seller knows their origin or how they were obtained. They could be legitimate—like from old laptops or prebuilt units—or less reliable, such as from bulk packs where the seller might be breaking MS rules. Additionally, some might be purchased using stolen or counterfeit cards, which can be used for illegal activities.

Fair enough; thank you, and I'll remember this for later.
