The contact pad on my Ryzen 7 7700 shows minimal discoloration. The system has remained stable so far, and the issue appears small enough to capture clearly with a macro lens. Is this normal? Could it be harmless? My older Intel processor from about four months ago also had some discoloration.

It's simply the pads of the CPU touching the motherboard socket pins, nothing to be concerned about. Consider it a "witness mark" in essence.

The pin appears to be positioned clearly inside the socket, with a distinct shape and size compared to the surrounding pads.

The socket appears normal, but your previous Intel i5 12400 shows discoloration too. It’s unclear if this is typical or not.

Every other connection point on your processor contains a portion of it. This is completely normal and probably happens because the pins sit in those spots when the CPU is placed into the socket.
