Quality should match the price. Asus offers top-tier motherboards, but at the same cost you’ll find fewer features compared to Asrock or MSI. However, if both boards are similar in quality and feature count, choose Asus for better BIOS support and quicker boot/post times.

ATX systems offer the greatest flexibility. Using compact boards restricts you to the capabilities of the motherboard and possibly just one additional PCIe port. ATX models can add up to six more slots once your graphics card is installed.

Not really, your options are constrained by PCIe lanes which affect expandability. When discussing b450/b550 models, there are always 24 lanes regardless of the form factor. For instance, an OP might install a 16 GPU, an M.2 NVMe drive, and an X4 card. In any ATX or ATX-ATX setup, all lanes tend to be utilized unless the BIOS supports using the X16 slot in X8 mode—only older models like X370/X470/X570 do that, not newer ones. It really depends on your intended use. Getting an ATX just for show is similarly restrictive; I have ATX boards I want to fit but they remain unused because there’s no space. I was trying to assist you, sorry for that. In short, your choices are limited by hardware design and planning.
