You're starting from scratch with Linux and Debian 11. The issue you're facing when entering your password in the terminal is likely due to incorrect login settings or a misconfiguration. Make sure your account has been properly set up with a valid username and password, and try logging in again. If the problem persists, check your system's configuration files or contact support for further help.

You weren't granted permission by root to run sudo. Either log in as root and install the update, or add your regular users to the sudoers list so you can use it.

I tried a few adjustments, but the issue persists. The outcomes remain unchanged. What steps should I take next?

Sure, I'll do it right away once I get back from school. Thanks!

Combine the two steps into a single command using the desired user context.

Absolutely correct! I hadn't considered that before.

It worked, really appreciated! Unfortunately, I'll need to purchase a new power supply for the computer before it functions properly, since the current one failed during a restart. Now the machine powers on, but the built-in surge protection on the motherboard is blocking boot, labeling the PSU as "unstable." Perfect timing, I guess.
