After my most recent update, I start questioning what kinds of BSODs might appear following changes to my RAM. Would it be typical for any of these issues to reach the kernel level?

It looks like you're considering using two 8 GB DDR3 RAM modules. That should provide a solid amount of memory, depending on your system requirements.

Two identical RAM modules are needed. A mismatch in some cases doesn't guarantee success, perfection, or best practice.
