I just installed the latest BIOS update D91IMS.HD2 on my MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi. This version helps prevent overvoltage issues with the 13th and 14th Gen CPUs. After applying it, the system booted normally but I encountered problems when checking settings—especially XMP. The fan curves froze and the display didn’t respond. I’m wondering if I need to force shut down and restart or if there’s a specific step to avoid damaging the PC.

You’re facing a tricky issue where the BIOS kept freezing after you enabled XMP. It sounds like the bug might be causing instability, so you may need to reflash the BIOS. The beta version isn’t officially stable, which adds to the challenge.

If the BIOS wasn't configured to the standard settings prior to or following a BIOS update, I would attempt that adjustment first.

Did you reboot the ME from Windows first? If you were using a previous firmware version with an older ME, some manufacturers say it's necessary. Interestingly, your board doesn’t reference this requirement or explain what it entails.

I installed the firmware for the ME device first, after that I updated the BIOS.
