A short while ago my PC started up smoothly, booting in under a minute and opening Chrome without any lag. Now when I power it on, Chrome loads slowly—especially the icons in the bottom-right arrow don’t appear quickly anymore. I ran a virus scan and everything looks fine, but the issue persists. It’s strange how it behaves differently depending on the software. What do you think is behind this problem?

Yes, I have CCleaner installed. You can open it and turn off any unnecessary startup applications.

After installing new software, additional task schedulers are generated, and various checks are added, which can hinder system startup speed. To address this, you may need to thoroughly review the components and remove any non-Windows dependent files or services that aren't essential.

Multiple programs launching at startup will compete for the HDD, causing delays in loading files. The disk head simply can't handle everything simultaneously, resulting in a slow boot time. Also, how recently did you defragment your PC? If you're using Windows 8, consider closing unnecessary programs in the Startup section to improve performance. On my machine, I don’t even need them and it boots quickly with no lag after logging in. For an SSD, the effect on speed isn’t clear yet.

Hi everyone, I’m not using an HDD but have a 128GB SSD and a 500GB SSD. Everything seemed normal this morning, but now it feels slower. Chrome opens fast and loads things instantly, while Pokki is lagging. I turned off some startup tasks but didn’t notice any change. D: EDIT – it’s actually the Start menu (Pokki). It takes the first 45 seconds to respond, and the arrow with programs like internet doesn’t show until then. My startup apps don’t launch until about 45 seconds after booting into Windows, though I can still use Chrome.

Only SSDs are supported. Since this machine is about 2-3 months old, it’s a good idea to defrag your SSDs.

Avoid defragmenting SSDs to preserve their life span. It's best not to do it.

I see what you did there. The changes you made should have improved performance, but it might still take a bit longer for some programs due to system updates or background processes.
