I'm trying to assist a friend who has no experience with computer repairs. The problem is that once the PC is connected and the power supply is turned on, it starts immediately. We changed the power supplies and even used a PSU tester on the old one—it worked. I also checked the front I/O and ruled out that issue. It still happens sometimes. He mentioned his PC would crash often while playing Valheim, but not when he switched to Rocket League. His system specs are: Ryzen 7 5800X, ROG Strix B550-F, 3080 Ti FE, 32GB Corsair Pro RGB DDR4, 1TB 970 EVO, 1000W Seasonic Gold PSU, Thermalright Peerless Assassin. I also tested the RAM, PSU (both new and old), and SSD separately—they all functioned properly. The motherboard and CPU seemed fine, though the desktop showed lag during testing. Thanks for any advice on this situation.
The BIOS includes an option named "Power on with AC" which activates the system when the power supply unit is powered up. This setting likely explains the issue.
Adjust the configuration to disable the "State after power loss" option.
Honestly, I didn't fully read the whole message, but you're correct. The GPU seems to be a likely culprit. Do you know about the utility GPU-z? You can switch to the Sensors tab to view many parameters, including GPU and CPU temperatures. This makes it easier to spot any unusually high readings. Regarding why certain games crash while others don't; each game has different demands and might rely more on CPU or GPU power. GPU-z could help you identify which game consumes more resources and possibly pinpoint when the computer fails. Hope this assists.
I've heard about gpu-z but haven't checked its performance or temperatures in those titles yet. I'm planning to try it out!
