Consider updating your BIOS in stages: F6 → F31, then F31 → F40, and finally F40 → F51D.

Early Ryzen models paired with budget RAM often struggle with XMP support. My 3200 G.Skill Trizent Z (CAS14) kept losing stability above 3000MHz, especially on older 1600X units. Cheaper Zen+ kits tend to perform worse, likely due to memory training issues.

It seems safe to proceed, just make sure to avoid disconnecting your computer.

They mentioned changing before the F40 update—you need to move to F31 and install something. Then switching from F40 to F51D? What should I say about that?

I noticed this on my Ryzen 2600x—it really struggles with RAM. Going back to the original RAM speeds works best. I think it’s common for older Ryzen models, especially those first generation, to have memory problems, particularly with more than two sticks. You might try adjusting the voltage (as shown on YouTube) tailored to your exact RAM type. Your memory controller could be handling the load too.

I believe achieving 3200MHz requires significant manual adjustments or is simply not feasible. The old Zen memory controller performed poorly, making the InfinityFabric clock even more problematic. You might attempt higher voltage on RAM, but avoid excessive levels. Try enabling XMP and opting for a lower frequency to test stability. Familiarize yourself with memory stability checks. Be cautious: unstable RAM can cause unpredictable issues like random errors, file damage, broken installations, or app crashes—so always keep backups and don’t push too hard.

The zen+ controller might need a boost in voltage, though most RAM chips can handle it.
