The system keeps experiencing frequent crashes.
In the last month I experienced frequent GPU crashes. I updated drivers several times and performed two DDU operations to try different fixes. Below are the recent error messages I encountered during these crashes. I wasn’t playing a game; I was just browsing YouTube in a web browser. Source: DistributedCOM Event ID: 10016 The system’s permission settings prevent local activation for the COM Server app with the specified CLSID and APPID, granting access only to the admin user SID at LocalHost via LRPC. Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security setting can be adjusted through the Component Services admin tool. Source: Display Event ID:4101 The driver amduw23g stopped responding but has since recovered. Source: DistributedCOM Event ID: 10016 The same permission issue occurred, with the same unavailable SID. This permission can be changed using the Component Services administrative interface.
Hi. Please precise your pc build specs, it might help to have more context.
This situation has persisted for most of the past year with AMD drivers. They didn’t update the driver package a year ago; instead, in February 2023 they released a completely new version, which resolved the problem. The latest stable release appears to be version 23.10.2 WHQL from October. The November release brings this issue back: ..."Intermittent micro-stuttering may be experienced when running Chromium-based browsers on systems that pair a Radeon RX 7000 series GPU with a secondary display connected to an AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor." This claim is inaccurate and downplays the real challenges. In truth, the PC often freezes completely, making it seem like a crash occurred. After about ten minutes, it may recover partially, but you’ll still see a recovery warning. A year ago, the recommended fix was switching to Firefox or disabling automatic sync. I stopped using AMD products a year ago, which significantly reduced my time troubleshooting faulty drivers and reading release notes. You might also try restarting the GPU driver via the Windows shortcut: Press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. When this issue arises, you can check if the system is locked by pressing NUMLOCK on the keyboard; I could toggle it to see if it resolves the problem.
