Hey, your PC came back from a long drive and you changed the cooler. After installing the new one, the motherboard lights are blinking but nothing happens when you press power. The CMOS reset didn’t help. Here are some ideas: check connections, try a different power supply, ensure the GPU is properly seated, and verify the fan control settings. If issues persist, consider testing with another power source.

Are you receiving any postcode lights? Because you installed the new CPU cooler recently, I’d start by resetting the CPU. Also, since you moved your PC to a different drive, I’ll inspect everything—RAM, GPU, motherboard, and CPU power—just to be sure.

You probably hit the RAM, which might prevent the system from starting. Try reinserting it. Also, reattach all the power connections—there could be slight movement during setup.

I just replaced the CPU, reinserted the RAM, verified all power connections, but nothing changed. I’m not seeing any postcode lights on the motherboard and can’t locate an internal speaker to detect error sounds. The LEDs on the motherboard when I power on the PSU suggest it’s not a power supply issue. Any suggestions? Could the new fan be the cause? I’m really uncertain about what to do next.

You may attempt testing without connecting the fan if desired. Have you checked if you can bypass the power button pins?

I attempted to short the pins to start the system, but it didn’t work. I also tried booting without the CPU cooler connected. It seems there might be a problem with the motherboard or CPU itself. You’re really running out of possibilities.

I’d start by checking the power supply. I’d also use a multimeter to verify all voltage levels. Just because the 5V is working and the LEDs light up doesn’t guarantee the PSU is functioning properly.

The test confirmed the power supply activated correctly, and measurements showed voltages slightly higher than anticipated using a multimeter.

The PSU appears fine. It might be a dead motherboard or a failing CPU, though less likely. Next, I’d remove the motherboard and verify there’s no contact with the back that could cause a short. Inspect the standoffs too. Then place it on a non-conductive surface (like the box if available), install just one RAM stick, leave the GPU off, and remove any SSDs. Try turning it on—see if a power LED lights up or if the fans spin.
