I recently installed Windows 10 about five days ago. Since then, I haven’t used the laptop much, but I’ve noticed it only shows 4GB of RAM even though I have 8GB installed. I tried restarting, but it didn’t help. Could one of my RAM modules be faulty and I didn’t realize it? I haven’t checked if Windows is detecting all my RAM recently. Thanks for your assistance.

Did you choose the 32-bit or 64-bit installation? What amount of RAM is allocated to the graphics card, assuming it uses the CPU's onboard video?

It seems the setup might have missed detecting the RAM during Windows 10 installation. You could attempt the fix designed for Windows 8.1. Check the guidance at http://thetechreviewer.com/tech-tips/fix...alled-ram/

the graphics card communicates with the rest of the system and also verifies if you have a 32-bit installation, it should upgrade to the same version

It's a 64-bit system but the graphics card is using only 512MB. Checking PC info shows 8GB RAM, yet only 3.45GB is available. Sorry for the awkward Windows 10 help post.

I'm taking my laptop apart once more, lucky day indeed. Surgery is coming up, and I'll be dismantling it afterward. Doing things like this feels more exciting than watching TV. Just wish I don't mess up during the anesthesia.

Seriously?! Don’t try to reinsert the RAM again.

They attempted to push it quickly, but it looks like a mistake right now. I think it's a bad situation.

Typically occurs due to RAM incompatibility. Drivers...? Not entirely clear.
