I adjusted the timezone on my Windows to UTC-5:00 Eastern Time, but it keeps shifting—sometimes an hour ahead, other times three to four hours behind. The daylight saving setting wasn’t checked. Need assistance?

It seems your CMOS battery is failing. You’ll need to replace it. Typically, CR2032 batteries are available at most stores for a few dollars. I suggest opting for an Energizer model or something with a longer lifespan to avoid frequent replacements.

Your motherboard is a Z97 Gaming 5 from MSI. You received it last week. I removed the battery once to reset the CMOS, but perhaps you installed it incorrectly?

Your new mobo might be affected because you possibly misplaced the battery. It could cause issues if not handled correctly.

It might happen, though it would be great if your device's movements occasionally help the battery last longer.
