Each time I restart or shut down, the screen goes black for roughly ten minutes before loading and showing an error. There are no codes—just text messages—and clicking them makes nothing happen except disappearing. Chrome also takes about thirty minutes to open normally after a delay. Since I don’t have any important files, I’d like to reset the system but avoid re-downloading games.

Looks like your hard drive is failing or your Windows installation is severely damaged.

You can use chkdsk and dism to check for disk errors that might be causing problems, which could be fixed. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, it may involve more complex steps beyond a simple reinstall.

No, I haven't tried booting into safe mode yet.

I attempted to run chkdsk but received a message about missing permissions.

I'll attempt to understand it later, mates. I've gotta go. But I'll keep it unresolved just in case someone else has a clue.

Execute the script via the admin console. Locate the command prompt in the Start menu, right-click it, and select "Run as Administrator."
