Hey there! I've recently been diving into Europa Universalis IV, which tends to be pretty demanding on graphics. Still, sometimes I notice lag when trying to maintain smooth performance. While checking my system during gameplay, my CPU usage stays around 30% and the GPU is hovering between 20-45%. That doesn’t seem like a typical bottleneck for me. But when I open the task manager, it shows high power consumption from Europa itself. Could that be the culprit? Have you encountered similar issues before? Here are my PC details for reference: CPU – Intel i7-9700KF, Power Supply – Corsair TX750M 80 Plus Gold (around 750W), SSD – 1000GB NVMe M.2, Graphics Card – Asus GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 Dual, RAM – 32 GB. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Using fewer components often means the game isn’t fully optimized or there’s a performance issue. The strong energy consumption you see is likely Windows highlighting that an application is demanding significant resources, which is the expected behavior.

Windows indicates the app is consuming significant CPU and GPU resources, leading to elevated power consumption. This is typical for games, so no concern there. If a non-interactive background process appears with high usage, it may warrant checking. For apps meant to run in the foreground and expect heavy processing, this is normal behavior.

You can increase CPU and GPU usage by adjusting your system settings or using performance-enhancing tools. Since Europa Universalis IV is on Steam, check the game’s in-game options for performance tweaks.

Sure, glad you asked! It seems the game isn't heavily demanding on your hardware, so there should definitely be a way to scale performance up.

They confirmed your PC operates in high-performance mode instead of a standard power-saving setting.

These types of games typically don’t demand constant CPU and GPU power. I’d think CPU load rises mainly when characters are making decisions, and drops otherwise. During your own move it’s mostly focused on visuals. This shouldn’t push either processor or graphics card to full capacity on a decent machine. Did you check the task manager above the game or did you close it to check usage? Some titles will either pause or lower their frame rate when minimized, which could be the reason. I’d consider using tools like MSI Afterburner to monitor usage while the game runs in the background. But for a turn-based game, I wouldn’t expect full CPU/GPU consumption all the time.

Hey there! It sounds like your game might be running into resource conflicts or background processes. Checking for updates, closing unnecessary apps, and ensuring your system has enough RAM and storage could help. Let me know if you want more tips!

Sure, you're in the "Power Options" section, but it doesn't show a high-performance setting. The current balance is fine unless you need more power.

Check for additional options; balanced settings function well, yet they differ from performance mode.
