The system frequently shuts down following the addition of a new part...
Last night I put in a new motherboard (MSI B550 Gaming Plus) and CPU (Ryzen 5 5600X). My computer ran well for a while. I played Elden Ring for around 20 minutes, then watched some YouTube before going to sleep. Tonight I came back, but after turning it on it kept restarting repeatedly. At first it happened right after unlocking the PC, or maybe just before, but later it wouldn’t let me even reach the loading screen. Sometimes it displayed a blue screen, but no details were given. Once I got into Microsoft recovery mode and tried resetting Windows from there, it restarted during the installation. I unplugged it from the power source and plugged it back in. When I tried to reinstall Windows using a USB drive, the icon appeared but the loading symbol kept spinning until another restart. My old motherboard was MSI B150 Gaming M3 and my previous CPU was an Intel i5 6500. I still have the same GPU, RAM, SSD, power supply, and case. Only the motherboard and CPU have changed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
No error messages have shown up so far, but I’ll update once I find something. The problem here is that the socket connections vary between different parts—either an AMD setup with a specific motherboard or an Intel processor paired with a particular board. I’m sure my Intel and other components function correctly, but determining if the issue lies with the motherboard or the CPU isn’t something I can figure out right now. Thank you for your help; otherwise I might waste hours reinstalling Windows.
I don’t exclude a Windows problem, but it’s highly improbable. Inspect every physical connection you have. Dust might be causing shorts. The CPU could be improperly secured, leading to instability. Incorrect SSD placement or a misplaced GPU might also be responsible. Often, the issue stems from cables not being fully seated.
