I'm using a brand new system recently set up around New Year's Eve. Yesterday it crashed while playing a game, and again when just sitting on the desktop. Both incidents happened quickly—within a few minutes. After a quick restart in about two minutes, I saw the "windows didn't load correctly" message. I assume all my drivers are current and I'm not overclocking my CPU. Anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks ahead of time.

Hello, Could you share your PC specifications? Also, let me know which BSoD message appeared. Restarting Windows might resolve the issue if one of them caused the problem.

Pc specifications include an Intel i9 9900k Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz with XMP enabled in a 4x8GB setup. It runs on MSI gaming X trio 2080S, Asus Rog Strix Z390, and includes a gaming motherboard. Additional components are Corsair MP510 M.2 boot drive, Samsung 860 Evo secondary drive, Corsair RX750 PSU, and Noctua NH-D15 cooling fan. One error message seemed linked to outdated drivers, while another possibly related to a drive issue. I recall CPU performance dropping around 3200MHz, causing crashes until a BIOS update. Previously stable for about six months. Avoiding reverting to 2133MHz is important since it’s the base RAM speed, and I’m unsure how to safely overclock myself. Are there tools available to verify driver updates? Edited February 27, 2020 by Dapper_orang Forgot something

After the latest software release, you can go back to the earlier version of the BIOS. Don't install updates unless absolutely needed—I discovered this the hard way.

They needed fixing, the machine operators were very erratic and I had to limit my CPU speed to 3.6GHz across all cores.

No, disabling the XMP profile does not cause a BSoD.

I haven't tested it yet, though I've been using the system for about three hours and haven't stopped. Next time I'll definitely give it a try. Probably need to figure out how to safely overclock the RAM on my own since I've heard XMP can be unpredictable.

Unless verified, it might lead to BSoD, but remember a BSoD can change certain Windows files, so you should either fix or reinstall it.
