The system doesn't start Windows immediately.
Hey, I remember you built your first PC about a week ago and it’s running perfectly now. The only issue is that when you power it on, it jumps straight into BIOS instead of Windows, which takes a couple extra minutes to boot. Someone might have some tips on how to fix or adjust that. Also, during setup you used a new 2TB hard drive, an old 750GB drive (though it might be faulty), and some other components like the Intel Core i7-8700K, MSI GeForce 1060 GTX, Gigabyte Aorus Z370, Seagate Barracuda 2TB, NZXT Kraken X62, Meshify C case, and Corsair RM750x PSU. What do you think?
Seems like the problem was just with the PC not recognizing a drive during post. Did you test it on the original unit or the newer one? It doesn’t matter which one you use.
Your BIOS updates remain consistent after a full reboot if you completely shut down the system. If not, this suggests a power issue (even on a brand-new motherboard). When changes persist and the BIOS continues loading instead of booting, check if SMART monitoring is active in BIOS settings. You likely have it enabled by default, but since you mentioned an old HDD, consider turning off the SMART checks for that drive. Make sure all configurations are properly set—modern boards offer many options. Spend time customizing BIOS (XMP, boot sequence, SATA types, etc.). A solid setup with a traditional HDD works well and saves energy. Upgrade to an SSD for better performance!
