The Steam icons are missing from the desktop after a fresh Windows 10 installation.
All steam icons on the desktop disappeared after reinstalling Windows 10. I replaced the motherboard, CPU, and reinstalled Windows. There are now six drives, but the Steam file on the C: drive was deleted during the installation. When I try to create shortcuts on my desktop from Steam, they appear as blank white pages. The Steam/game folder also lacks icons. I've checked that .url files are set to "internet browser," rebuilt the Windows icon cache multiple times without success, and restarted after each rebuild. Additionally, I confirmed the local game files in Steam, but they still don't display properly. I have many games and don't want to manually edit all desktop icons.
By reinstalling the OS, did you rebuild the bootable USB installer with Windows Media Creation Tools? When discussing missing or blank icons, it's typically an OS corruption issue. During the OPS reinstall, all your other drives (except the one being replaced) seemed to disconnect from the system. After completing the OS installation and manually installing drivers, connect each drive sequentially—turn off power, unplug the wall outlet, connect the next drive, restart, and confirm it appears in BIOS and the OS before repeating until all drives are properly linked to the motherboard.
