The steam deck links to the home network through Wi-Fi via its internet connection, but after downloading large files it becomes disconnected from Wi-Fi and goes offline. It only connects to Ethernet when using a wired setup. This behavior might occur with some models due to their Wi-Fi chip performance. Plugging in while unpacking files could improve speed if the device is receiving data through the Ethernet port instead.

This suggests the issue isn't with the laptop or Steam Deck, but rather your wireless access point or router. It seems the AP might have a weak Wi-Fi chip.
