my 250GB SSD vanishes unexpectedly without notice but returns after a reboot; this happened during file saving and I've tried various online solutions yet no resolution found. After restarting, it fails to restart and shows a black screen, remaining powered on until I manually turn it off on the case

Hello there,
My personal encounter with this situation has made the drive stop working. I recommend replacing it if you find any relevant information. You might also be able to use it once you install a new drive and operating system.

luckily the drive is just for storing games and files, not my os, so it should be a simple fix.

Oops, I got the wrong idea. I assumed you meant a non-booting OS drive. If it's just games and data, it shouldn't cause much trouble. Have you checked the cables and swapped them out? Please share your full PC specifications so we can be more precise. A BIOS update could also be an option.
