i recently damaged my old laptop that i purchased for 200 dollars a couple of years ago. afterward, i upgraded to an hp all-in-one desktop, but i encountered performance issues while playing games. the ping would spike from 20ms to 300-2000ms every few seconds during tests. i spent several days researching online, watching hundreds of videos and trying various fixes, but nothing resolved the problem. i suspected the wifi driver might be the cause, so i returned the desktop and bought an hp i5-8700 with a mount. the same issue persisted. both computers used the same wifi driver, realtek 803 one. eventually, i upgraded to an hp omen, which also used the same driver. i purchased a wifi adopter at best buy, and the ping spikes disappeared significantly. now i only experience ping spikes occasionally, about every half minute or even longer. my question is how can i permanently fix this issue? this ping behavior never occurred before with my old laptop. the surface 4 had stable ping, but not on this new machine.

Consider using Ethernet for gaming. A nearby electrical device might be causing interference.
