They function as individual units with the same Ethernet connection. The PC consistently matches speed tests, while Google shows discrepancies. Possible reasons include network configuration or local interference.
Here are some other things happening right now that might be impacting performance. Perhaps it's just search engines working hard? Also, 666.9 seems to be a bit concerning.
Relies on your proximity to the speed test server and any delays along the way. Based on real-world observations, I usually experience reduced speeds during Google speed tests compared to sites like speedtest.net, dslreports.com, or fast.com. Speedtest.net could offer more accurate results for most users because it uses a larger network of servers worldwide, many managed by ISPs. Don’t stress too much unless your ISP’s rate is significantly lower than what you see on speedtest.net.
Sorry for the delayed reply—I sent this around midnight. It seems the internet was off, and the PC is solid (3700x/3080/32GB/1TB NVMe). I think it’s just Google being Google, but my speed tests show much slower results on my PC compared to my Mac (around 550 Mbps vs ~1 GB on iMac). Steam downloads at 115 Mbps on the PC are actually decent.
Apologies for the delayed reply—I submitted this near midnight. I’m near the server and my iMac can reach up to 1GB using the same Ethernet cable. My PC, on the other hand, doesn’t perform well for some reason. All speed tests on the PC are slower, though downloading will boost it to 1GB (like Steam). Usually the tests run between 5-600 MB, but Google shows 20, which is confusing for me.
If actual performance remains unchanged, I wouldn't need to be concerned.
