I'm assessing how much RAM will affect performance for gaming. With only 8GB of DDR4 2400 MHz, the system may experience some lag or reduced frame rates if more than 8GB is needed. The existing components like the 1070 Ti and FX 8320 are strong, but RAM bottlenecks can still show up. Expect noticeable but not extreme slowdowns unless the game is very memory-intensive.
Recently, I nearly hit the limit of available memory. Even with an SSD, the system froze heavily when swapping intensely. It was tough to close the problematic application.
The FX8320 is a total disappointment when measured against all the models released over the last few years. It's nothing like anything that came before Ryzen or any other solid processor. Even an i5-3400 would outperform it, and it would struggle to keep up with a 1070Ti today. Back in 2018, this chip could only maintain around 60FPS in games—check the Cinibench R15 sheet for proof. Don't waste money on this thing; you don’t need it. Pretend you don’t have it, and save some cash. No good with FX8320.
I’m working with only spare components and can’t afford a new processor. I have an FX 8320 from my previous setup. I’m limited to using what I have, and he’ll be able to upgrade later.
You won’t face performance limits from 8GB of RAM. Almost any title runs smoothly on this amount. The real slowdown comes from the old CPU that wasn’t great at launch—it will struggle to keep up with modern demands, holding back your experience like it’s running a GTX 660.
