Just now I refreshed my profile and updated Windows 11 to the newest releases. Now Windows seems to have issues launching certain apps. I learned from a recent update that version 22H2 had some stability concerns with Ryzen processors, so I waited until the patch was released before installing and downloaded the latest BIOS in case it helped. Everything functions normally during startup, with no noticeable changes. After a few minutes, any program that tries to start freezes instantly and stays frozen for at least a minute before resuming, loading assets and completing tasks. Other applications run without problems, and opening another window of an already running program happens almost instantly. I’ve also observed that when a new app starts while another is hanging, the second one freezes too, but once the first stops, the second does as well. This affects a range of programs—Steam (even when in system tray), various games, Discord (not on startup), GOG Galaxy, Powertoys. Some apps open quickly but then freeze, while others remain unresponsive until the initial hang ends. Anyone have ideas on resolving this? Edited November 28, 2022 by marc7636 added question
I'm excited: AMD Ryzen 3600x ROG B450-f gaming board paired with HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz RAM, two 8GB sticks at 2400MHz. The Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB serves as the boot drive, while the 2070 Super graphics card from Aorus enhances performance.
For those experiencing similar problems: Microsoft support suggested disabling all non-Microsoft services via msconfig (Win+R), which resolved the issue. Although several programs reported services not running after a restart, the problem persisted once I re-enabled only the necessary ones.
