You're currently using the Potato Internet service. To limit your uploads without affecting other activities, you can set a bandwidth cap in Chrome. The Inspect tool lets you create a custom profile with an upload limit of 8.0 Mbps. This should apply to the specific page or tab you're using. It's worth checking the settings on that particular site to see if the limit works as expected. If the upload spikes to higher speeds, reopening the Inspect window might help stabilize the connection.

I think it should only affect the active tab, though I’m not very familiar with that topic. There might be a Windows configuration that limits network speed, which could prevent you from using the PC during uploads.

Begin the download just before bedtime or leave the home for an hour to ensure no internet activity during the upload.

Consider using Netlimiter to control bandwidth per process or domain. You might switch to a dedicated browser like Brave, Opera, or the Firefox fork, and limit uploads there. Other options include Netbalancer, SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager, and SoftPerfect's website.

I could handle it more smoothly than having the whole network down. I also don’t want to slow down LAN traffic, even though I don’t use it much. Go outside? What’s going on here? I thought about this before, but I rarely go out and I’d rather wait a day or two before uploading. Even bedtime isn’t ideal since I usually play games on my tablet before sleeping. Thanks for the ideas. I’ll look into them. I did discover several software tools, but as often happens, figuring out which ones work without spyware or annoying stuff is tricky.

Improperly optimized connections that block the upload stream can severely slow down all clients on the network. Applying QoS or similar traffic control on the router should resolve this issue. Avoid trying fixes outside the router; instead, configure download and upload limits at 85-90% of your plan to ensure smoother performance for everyone.
