Hello, I've been trying various approaches to fix my Windows 10 PC but nothing seems to work. My setup includes an MSI gaming 970 motherboard, AMD FX 8350 CPU, and an ASUS GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. The system drive is SSD-based, and I have a RAID 0 array for storage. I've tested all common fixes—disconnected peripherals, reinstalled Windows, cleared CMOS, updated drivers, booted in safe mode with debug text, enabled verbose registry mode, and even tried disconnecting the RAID array. Still stuck. Anyone have any ideas I haven't considered? I'm running out of options and really need help. Thanks in advance.

Are there any additional drives connected besides your RAID0 SSDs? Also, the FX 8350 is nearing its end of life, and you could upgrade to a $250 i3 13100F platform for significant speed improvements with a GTX 1080ti. Another $50 would bring you an NVMe M.2 SSD, even a 1TB version. Essentially, you're missing out on the potential boost from the 1080ti by possibly gaining 2-3 times more performance.

Have you experimented with operating without RAID0? After a recent reinstallation that didn’t resolve the problem, have you attempted to run a single drive? If so, it indicates a hardware constraint or failure involving the drives or the chipset. Whether the issue lies with one or both drives, or with the controller, if a single-drive setup works then the problem likely resides in how the RAID0 is being handled.

I turned off my RAID and the main storage drive, but it didn’t work. Regarding the chipset, the 970 gaming chipset tends to get very hot (it can really burn your fingers), and I have a separate fan to help with cooling. I think the problem might be with my motherboard, but I don’t have the budget to replace everything. Also, the issue seems to happen regardless of whether my system is hot or cold, so overheating doesn’t seem likely.

You can usually find any old office computer and get a good price for an 8350. It might cost just a few dollars, depending on where you live—think an i5 6400 Dell model. You can repurpose its power supply for the system, then connect your current PSU to the VGA aux connectors and just power it up briefly. Alternatively, if you've done a fresh install on a single SSD instead of RAID0, the issue likely lies with the motherboard, CPU, or SSD. Another choice would be selling the GTX 1080ti and using the proceeds to assemble a more balanced setup with a less expensive card. I wouldn’t suggest that unless you really need to save just a couple dollars; the 1080ti remains a strong card in 2023 and is worth more than its second-hand value in my view.

@Toby.EXE Considering all your efforts and suggestions, it seems you’ve exhausted every possible solution. The only remaining option is to permanently turn off the RAID setup—make sure it stays disabled. After that, erase your drives and start from a clean Windows installation. Install drivers and check if the BIOS still supports updates for your board. If you keep getting stuck loading Windows, it’s likely your primary boot drive is failing or your motherboard isn’t functioning properly. Since you can’t afford a new system right now, replacing the motherboard and the failing drive might be necessary. Hardware from that era is becoming harder to source, which adds pressure. The good news is your graphics card is likely underperforming; upgrading it should significantly improve performance. You’re really limiting the GPU’s potential at the moment.

I wanted to add a bit more energy to my existing setup. I probably won’t purchase a new system, so I’ll create it from scratch in stages as soon as I can afford it.

I thought there might be a software glitch or a hardware issue. This isn't the first time it's happened—it's been going on for years. Used to deal with similar problems, I assumed a fresh Windows setup would help, but it didn't resolve the problem. Now I'm going to upgrade gradually and keep dealing with my old system until it's fixed.
