I think I was there a few weeks or months ago with a comparable problem. Please forgive if this is misplaced or incorrectly labeled. With games requiring secure boot, I turned it on in my BIOS but the boot device became unusable unless CSM compatibility mode was active. This restricts certain capabilities like virtualization. My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix B550, using an NVMe M.2 drive even after updating the BIOS—it still doesn’t work. Even after disabling secure boot, I still need compatibility mode to access the drive. I’m hoping someone with similar experience can help or know a solution. After all my attempts, I’m considering replacing the drive with a new one and installing Windows fresh, keeping BIOS settings as desired, since a clean setup might avoid corrupting the boot record. But I’m unsure if I’d be able to see the old drive without using compatibility mode.
Boot drive must be Legacy Windows install, it won't work with secure boot because it requires CSM. You should change the drive to GPT and reinstall Windows in UEFI mode.
It seems you're experiencing issues with CSM enabled. This likely indicates the drive is formatted with MBR instead of GPT. A new installation without CSM should resolve the problem.
