Hello, I own an MSI motherboard and the M.2 SSD in the second slot appears to be non-functional (it doesn't show up in BIOS). I've assembled my PC, and the same M.2 module that works on my main system isn't working either. I have two ideas: first, it might be permanently dead with no fix possible, and the second is that a BIOS setting is preventing it from being recognized. Could you help identify which setting might be causing this issue? I have an A-XMP enabled RAM board (B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI M.2 - WD_BLACK SN770 2TB).

Ensure the drive is properly installed, then review Windows Disk Management. You must prepare the new drive before it becomes functional.

It’s not likely to be a problem with a brand new drive, though turning on CSM might lead to issues based on the formatting. You probably checked the disk manager in Windows, just in case the BIOS is unusual. There are very few reports of hidden lane sharing, often between SATA ports or PCIe slots. Since your board only has two slots, that seems improbable.

Disk management contained just my active drive. The color was blue.

Verify the presence of Disk 0 and Disk 1. An uninitialized disk will indicate it's offline. Once initialized, you'll receive a drive letter assignment, like Drive D or any other selected letter. The newly assigned drive will show completely unallocated space.

I think CSM was always off as its using UEFI. And it's not showing anything.

It really helped, though I’m feeling pretty awkward. Thanks for all the support! I promise I fixed it after January, even if I’m not sure.
