Hello,
I recently assembled a PC two months ago. I swapped out the GPU and PSU a few days back, and now I experience brief random black screens lasting seconds. Everything functions normally otherwise—no restart needed, just a short display issue. The cables are all in place, I’ve tested them multiple times, and there’s no noise. It occurs randomly, sometimes twice per hour, other times once daily. I changed the DisplayPort cable, tried different GPU ports or monitors, but nothing resolved it. After installing drivers in safe mode following a GPU swap, reinstalling the graphics card multiple times didn’t help. Event logs and HWinfo software showed no errors. All systems seem to be operating correctly.
My system specifications are:
ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4
Intel Core i5-13400F
Corsair 32GB KIT DDR4 3200
MHz CL16 Vengeance LPX
SSD disk Samsung 980 PRO 1TB
P
SU SEASONIC GX 750W
LCD monitor 34" ASUS TUF VG34VQL1B
GPU MSI Ventus X2 RTX 4070 Super
Could you assist me? Thank you.
typically this kind of problem stems from damaged ports, poor quality cables, or driver problems.
when the issue persists across multiple ports, cables, etc., it’s more likely a faulty GPU.
it might not be a malfunctioning graphics processor or memory, but rather a bad connection to its PCIe plate or output ports.
i would start by testing another known working GPU to determine if the intermittent black screen remains.
Hello, thank you for your message. I attempted to detach the audio cable from the monitor without encountering a black screen, but I'm wondering if the audio port might be responsible for occasional display issues next to it.
It's always feasible. Perhaps that part of the display's casing is slightly misaligned. Try adjusting it slightly for a few days; if the problem disappears, you should be fine with the black screens now. Would you like to keep using that audio port or switch to another one easily?
